GHK-Cu (Copper Peptide) Research Overview
Last updated:
GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper-binding tripeptide (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine) studied for its interactions with copper-dependent tissue-remodeling pathways.
GHK-Cu (Copper Peptide) has no approved human medical indication and has not been evaluated by the FDA or any other regulatory body for safety or efficacy in humans. Published research on GHK-Cu (Copper Peptide) is overwhelmingly preclinical: conducted in vitro (cell and tissue culture) or in animal models, primarily rodents. We are not aware of well-controlled human clinical trials establishing a therapeutic effect for any condition.
GHK-Cu has one of the more extensive preclinical literatures among research peptides, concentrated in dermal and connective-tissue research:
- Dermal wound-healing models — skin-injury models in animals and cell-culture systems have investigated GHK-Cu's association with tissue-remodeling and repair-related signaling.
- Collagen and extracellular-matrix research — in vitro fibroblast studies have examined GHK-Cu's interaction with collagen and extracellular-matrix protein synthesis pathways.
- Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory research — cell-culture and animal studies have investigated GHK-Cu in the context of oxidative-stress and inflammatory-signaling pathways.

Limitations
State of the Evidence
GHK-Cu's literature is concentrated in cell-culture and dermal tissue models; systemic effects, an established human pharmacokinetic profile, and long-term safety data for research use are not established by the existing preclinical literature.
